A Garage Built on Trust
F-M Auto Repair was founded in 2008 by Frank Morrison, who had spent over a decade working at main dealerships before deciding to set up independently in Southport. The name is simply his initials — nothing more complicated than that.
Frank's motivation was practical. He'd seen customers charged for work they didn't need, handed back cars with advisory lists longer than the invoice, and given explanations that served to confuse rather than inform. He wanted to run a workshop where that wasn't the norm.
Starting with a small unit on Stamford Road and one employed mechanic, the business grew steadily through word of mouth. We've never run promotions built around urgency or fear, and we've never recommended a repair we weren't confident was necessary.

How We've Grown
Growth has come from the things that should drive it — doing good work, treating customers fairly, and building a reputation we're comfortable with.
Frank Morrison opens the original unit on Stamford Road with one full-time mechanic and a focus on routine servicing for local customers.
Growing demand led to hiring two additional mechanics, allowing us to take on more complex diagnostic and repair work alongside routine servicing.
We expanded into an additional bay, adding a four-wheel alignment rig and investing in updated diagnostic equipment to cover newer vehicle systems.
As the business grew, we brought in a dedicated service advisor — Linda — to make sure customer communication kept pace with the volume of work coming through.
With more hybrid and electric vehicles on UK roads, our technicians have begun additional training to handle the changing demands of modern automotive work.

Frank Morrison
Frank has 27 years of automotive experience across dealerships and independent garages. He trained as a mechanic at 18 and has never stopped learning since.

Michael Clarke
Twelve years in the trade, the last eight at F-M. Michael handles complex diagnostics and is particularly strong on engine management and electrical fault finding.

Linda Park
Linda joined in 2019 and manages bookings, customer updates, and invoicing. She makes sure you're never left guessing what's happening with your car.

James Okafor
James handles servicing, brake work, and suspension repairs. He's methodical and careful — a quality that matters more than speed on a workshop floor.
